Water scarcity is challenge that is becoming more and more prevalent. Globally, available freshwater resources are predicted to dwindle drastically due to the effects of climate change, while the demand for water is predicted to increase. Research shows that a behavioural change must be part of the solution that will reduce overall water demand. Aguardio’s mission is simple – to reduce water and energy consumption by supporting, improving and developing sustainable behaviour, and to reduce water waste by alerting to water leaks. Our shower solution aims to motivate people to reduce their time in the shower by at least one minute: Each person will then save more than 10 litres of hot water and save enough energy to run a 60-watt light bulb for 6 hours. Our leak solution enables the detection of water leaks in toilets and from taps and is capable of preventing unnecessary water waste. Aguardio’s IoT sensors are designed to guide and motivate the user towards more sustainable habits. - Reduce shower time: Installed in the bathroom, Aguardio Shower Sensor causes a change in shower behaviour so as to reduce water and energy consumption. A combination of sensor technology and big data enables the Aguardio Shower Sensor to identify showers without having to access the water supply. Aguardio Shower Sensor is much more than just a physical device - it’s a platform from where social norms can begin to change for the better. The sensor has a documented effect through a third party academic Research Study conducted by the University of Surrey. - Detect leaking toilets and taps: The Aguardio Leak Sensor is a plug and play IoT sensor that can prevent substantial water waste in toilets. Many are not aware that at least 5-8% of all toilets leak clean water down the inner backside of the toilet pan. Leaks of even 274 litres daily can be invisible, as the water trickles down without disturbing the water surface in the toilet pan. The Aguardio Leak Sensor sounds a beep when it detects a leak, even as small as three litres of water an hour. The sensor can also map out the number of toilet flushes as well as the use of water taps, which allows e.g., schools to address health concerns and to make sure that available facilities match the demand.
