Identification

ROSI's high-value photovoltaic recycling technology revalorizes high-quality materials within solar panels. The solution is aiming to create a circular economy for the PV industry and beyond, we expect to reintegrate the highly pure recycled silicon to PV, battery, and semiconductor industries. Wastes are misplaced resources, thanks to ROSI's recycling technology, high-energy-embedded materials such as highly pure silicon and pure silver can substitute conventionally produced products. The recycled materials are supplied as local resources that strengthen the autonomy and resilience of European supply chain. (PV-silicon is categorized as a critical raw material by European Commission) Moreover, the REPowerEU plan by European Commission aims to accelerate the green energy deployment, EU has an ambition to relocalize the PV industry in Europe. ROSI's solution will play a central role of the European Critical Raw Material strategy and the relocalization of PV industries in Europe.

The environmental benefits

•The economic value recovery rate increases from 35% (by traditional shredding method) to up to 95% by ROSI's high-value recycling technology
•A fully functional recycling plant can have treatment capacity up to 10,000 tons/year
•1.2 ton of CO2-eq are saved per 1 ton PV modules being recycled (by replacing the conventionally produced raw materials by the recycled materials by ROSI) - By 2050, 77 million tons of CO2 can be saved if the panels are being recycled by ROSI's technology
•Compared to conventionally produced metallurgical grade 2N-3N silicon (99% - 99.9%), the 5N silicon (99.999%) recovered by ROSI has 75% less CO2 emission
•300,000 tons of highly pure silicon can be recovered from PV waste by 2050, these locally recovered materials can serve as new sources for the industries taking them as feedstocks
