Simple and low-tech water filtration technology that does not require electricity nor the use of chemicals

Identification
The Solution is a simple and low-tech water filtration technology that does not require electricity or the use of chemicals for the production of safe drinking water in remote locations. The solution emits less CO2 than commonly used alternatives for water treatment and preserves the environment using recyclable materials and no electricity. It is engineered and conceived as a self-inclusive system, delivered in a high quality and ready-to-use PEHD-chamber. The kls filter technology does not require electricity or the use of chemicals, which reduces CO2 emissions (compared with mainstream alternative for water treatment) and prevents environmental contamination from air, water and soil. The water treatment process is also completely silent and uses only natural filter media: the kls filter is entirely prefabricated from polyethylene, a lightweight and fully recyclable material.

The environmental benefits
- •The results of the tests carried out to date and the data from the scientific literature show a reduction in microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, etc.) by 3-4-log (99.9 - 99.99%)
- •Turbidity (suspended solid content) removal far below 1.0 FTU in treated water (with turbidities in the raw water of 100 FTU) and the production of microbial safe drinking water without the use of chemicals and electricity.
- •In more recently conducted R&D work using bauxite instead of quartz sand in one of the slow sand filter compartments, the solution showed reductions of E.Coli and Enterococcus up to 4 logs (99.99%)
- •The low weight of the filter (about 1'500 kg) allows, if necessary, its transport by helicopter in inaccessible areas
