Research project in the field Airborne Wind Energy (AWE). Our aim: take a different approach to the AWE technology
The KGM1 project will deliver a flying element and a ground generator which will capture the power of tropospheric winds, an energy renewable source globally available, and transform it in electrical energy. The product will be an autonomous robot. It will be a Ground-Generator, initially bi-tether in the first scaled off-grid version, having a obtimized flight path, then mono-tether coupled to a multi-technology wing and a innovative generator. The equipment size and power generated will be suitable for delivery both off-grid (single generator unit) - and with bigger size version- on-grid (energy farm) to every community or market on Earth at competitive prices. The GHIVA, a little engineering company, is, for now managing this research project, named KGM1, while searching funding for equity.
It will be the first deadline: the "pre-validation" of main of the "core targets", already partially covered by IPR.
The project is scheduled in 4 Step (Step.1, completed). The Step.2 will involve the main part of the research program. The first deadline of the Step.2 coincide with the pre-validation. What are the goal of pre-validation: (A) Modeling in calculating the system that we are going to test (THE OUTCOME: Proof of concept). (B) flight tests and long-term tests, able to validate the above acts and re-calibrate the mathematical models. (C) with reliable data, objectify the real potential of the ideas, obtaining comparable information with benchmarking data (Yo-Yo cycle generators). (D) Making a leap in TRL 5-6 in advance to the Step 2 completion. (E) Achieving the objectives in paragraphs A-D in a TIME <= 16 months and with a little expense, equal to 10% of the expected cost for the step 2 (COSTS = 200 K€).
