Holcim Base Vial

A special cement used to improve and stabilize soils for sustainable road construction

Identification

Holcim Base Vial modifies the characteristics of the soils and the granular bases (new or existing) by incorporating cement and water, improving its mechanical properties as the cement hydrates. Using Holcim Base Vial implies an increase in the rigidity and mechanical resistance of the granular material. Consequently, it allows them to be more resistant to the permanent deformation that trucks induce to the pavement structure. These mechanical advantages translate into a considerable structural contribution that allows the thickness of the pavement structure to be reduced without affecting its structural capacity. From an environmental point of view, the implementation of Holcim Base Vial represents a great advantage because it decreases the need to search and exploit sources of very high-quality aggregates due to the improvement of the mechanical properties of the site soils.
