Identification

The biggest challenge in solar generation is the continuous movement of the sun. As the sun moves, the angle of the light that falls on the solar panel changes and hence panels are unable to generate their peak power at all times. Until now, solar farms have only two options. Accept the inherent inefficiency or use mechanical trackers that manually move panels throughout the day. And if you consider residential homes, today they are left with no option but to accept the inefficiency as trackers are not viable for homes. The solution of Motion Free Optical Tracking technology rethinks the possibility of tracking by means of a new solar panel design. And we unleash the possibility of tracking across all solar segments from the farms to the residential homes. Our product is a new type of solar panel with a patent-pending light redirecting prism. Like a sunflower, the smart panel captures more light and bends it towards the solar cell thereby increasing the energy yield by up to 20%.

The environmental benefits

  • Motion Free Optical Tracking enabled with Renkube's AI based smart glass design increases the energy yield in solar panels by 20% more
  • The Renkube's prisms redirects the excess light that is not needed for the solar cells towards the ground underneath there by providing 40% PAR (Photosythentic Active Radiation) for plants to grow
  • 1 GW of utility solar farm with traditional panels save 1.4 Mega tones of CO2 emission per year (when compared to coal based power), those saving are increased to 1.68 Mega tons CO2 with the Solution
  • This translates to 7 Mega Tonnes of Co2 emissions saved cumulatively for 25 years for a 1 GW scale
  • Dual usage of land: Renkube has built a new type of panel for AgriPV that can enable a farmer to use his 100% land for solar and 100% for agriculture as well

The Financial benefits

  • A 100 MW solar farms spends an additional capital cost of $13M just for the trackers which gives an annual revenue of $3.5M. However with Renkube the additional Capex is $5M for the same benefits
  • The overall payback time for going solar reduces by an year with Renkube's solution
  • Now a farmer can lease his land to the solar developers and get a steady income for renting this land (2.5%- 5% royalty)
