It is able to exploit the wind that goes up along the facades of buildings to recover a maximum of energy. Thanks to its modular characteristic, this solution enables the multiplication of production sources to obtain significant electrical production, quite comparable to that of photovoltaic solar panels. A WindBox can produce as much electrical energy as ten square metres of solar panels and can complement them. Quick and easy to install, it is designed and fixed to limit its noise disturbances and vibrations.

WindBox by WIND my ROOF
Implemented by Rouen Habitat in Rouen (France) in 2022

Rouen Habitat, the Public Housing of Rouen having a rental stock of more than 8,000 dwellings, worked with WIND my ROOF within the framework of its landlord’s strategic energy plan to limit its environmental impact. Initiated by the President of the Rouen metropolitan area, this pilot project of eight WindBoxes installed on the Capricorne building which houses 84 homes on 10 floors combined all the necessary criteria for an installation: exposure to the wind, height and moderate urban density.


Designed to recharge the batteries to power 6 e-bikes in about 2 to 3 days depending on the wind and sun, 14 MWh/year for 20 years = consumption of four elevators, 16 washing machines or 135 vacuum cleaners


The environmental benefits

  • A global impact (with LCA) of 26g CO2ep per kWh instead of the 55g emitted with solar panels
  • A reduction of global environmental impact of more than 70% compared to current energy production
