About

Founded in 2017 in Amiens (France), Tiamat is based on almost 10 years of academic research carried out by some research units of the CNRS and the university working together within the RS2E, such as the Collège de France in Paris, the LRCS in Amiens, the CIRIMAT in Toulouse, the ICMCB in Bordeaux and the CSIC in Barcelona. Unlike other Na-ion batteries and due to its specific chemistry on positive and negative electrodes, Tiamat cell is designed for high power (30+ C in discharge and in charge) and ultrafast charge (5 min). Tiamat technology finds its major applications in mobility (48V MHEV, 12V SLI, fast-charge ebus..) and stationary storage (grid frequency regulation), where high power needs are not satisfied by reference technologies. In addition to weight reduction due to inferior cell quantity needed, Tiamat Na-ion offers cost pack advantages vs Li-ion based power & fast charge batteries, as its low self-heating allows to avoid pack cooling needs. Moreover, as far as safety is concerned, fire risks are dramatically decreased due to chemistry nature, and the possibility to store the cell at Zero Volt. Its widely available raw materials makes the Na-ion cells best choice with respect to Environment concerns, societal and ethics topics, and strategic supplies. Finally, Tiamat Na-ion’s superior life cycle (4000+ high rate cycles) makes it attractive when total cost of ownership (TCO) is considered.
