About

A non-profit based in Oklahoma City, Water4 has piloted and refined its safe water enterprise solutions across sub-Saharan Africa since 2008. With the vision for building financially sustainable WASH enterprises delivering affordable, high quality, and reliable services, Water4 invests in 18 social enterprises in 15 countries to promote a market-based model customized to local conditions. The majority of these companies are medium-sized providers of rural water services, while the five largest companies are also providing small piped water networks for small towns and peri-urban areas. The model works in areas where government agencies cannot or have not provided safe water. In these “left behind” areas, Water4 brings communities together with the local private sector to co-create solutions that deliver dignified work and safe water in parallel. To date, Water4 has reached 1.4 million people with access to safe water and aims to reach an additional 5.6 million by 2030.
