About
Stiftung BASE is a Swiss non-profit organization that is based in Basel. Founded in 2001, we are dedicated to develop innovative business models and financing solutions to mobilize investments in sustainable energy solutions. Our core business is to analyse and develop business models that include smart financing and risk mitigation mechanisms in order to facilitate and drive private investments into sustainable energy solutions with the objectives of addressing the challenges of climate change and promoting a more sustainable development path. In particular, Stiftung BASE brings extensive expertise in (i) identifying green market opportunities, (ii) conducting strategic analysis of clean technology markets and cost-benefit assessments, (iii) developing due diligence guidelines for green investment opportunities, (iv) setting up green private equity funds in development countries, (v) providing policy support, and (vi) developing and implementing financing and risk mitigation schemes to boost existing markets and reach out to new ones. Stiftung BASE has thus long experience and a strong track record working with both, private and public actors, such as financial institutions (incl. commercial banks, as well as national, bi- and multi-lateral development banks), industry players, development agencies, international organizations, private equity and institutional investors, etc.

The Solar Impulse Efficient Solution label seeks to bridge the gap between ecology and economy, bringing together protection of the environment and financial viability to show that these solutions are not expensive fixes to problems, but rather opportunities for clean economic growth.
