Identification

The River Whale® Solution captures waste in rivers before it reaches the ocean.

Ocean plastic is a huge threat to marine life and is increasingly high on the political agenda. 80% of waste discharged in oceans originates from land, meaning pollution must be stopped before reaching the mouth of rivers. The H2OPE River Whale® provide an innovative waste collection solution to capture plastic in rivers. This Solution is specifically designed to capture floating and immersed waste carried along in rivers. The River Whale® is a static cleaning device, acting as a fully autonomous natural dam for plastic, using no other energy than the strength of the current. Easily installed and able to operate 24 hours a day, a network of River Whales® is able to capture 80 to 90% of plastic waste, which can then be sent to waste management and recycling sectors. The Solution helps to protect rivers, oceans and allow waste to be captured at an early stage, thus preserving its recycling potential.
